Our boys basketball team took on Floyd County last night showing out in support of Floyd County students, Lauren Worley and Micah Underwood. Both students were involved a terrible head on collision with a drunk driver on December 16 leaving Micah with a broken leg and wrist and leaving Lauren on life support.
We are thrilled that both Micah and Lauren are recovering and even more excited to share that Lauren was moved to inpatient rehab yesterday, after 39 days in the hospital. While our boys were supporting our friends in Floyd, our cheerleaders had the honor of cheering at the annual Doc’s for Morgan basketball game benefiting the Morgan Harrington Scholarship Fund. These girls are honored to cheer at this game, previously known as the “Help Save the Next Girl” game, each year in support of LB grad, Morgan Harrington who was senselessly murdered in Charlottesville in 2009. Morgan’s parents have kept her spirit alive in starting the Help Save the Next Girl program in an effort to sensitize young girls to predatory danger and enhance the ability to quickly disseminate urgent information, specifically about missing persons.
We are so proud of our Cavs for putting others before self and supporting our community!
